When exporting directly to DV tape (canon 230) from Adobe Premiere 6.0 the time stamps from the original DV's appear on the exported video tape at each transition. This then prints through on the VCR copies.
However when exporting to file there is no problem. What am I doing wrong!:(
Oooh, nothing worse than leaving the date up on all your footage! Cus chances are it's the wrong date, and they're usually horribly dated computerised-looking dates too!
Last weekend I used a camera from a friend. Shot a scene and then played it back, evrey shoe had the time and date!!!!!! We then had to work out how to turn them both off permanently and reshoot the footage!!!

Thanks. Yep thats what happened with the Hi8 footage - Oops .
The other with the DV tape is a bit more unusual. The date only shows for a couple of seconds at each transition in Premiere - and only when output to DV tape, not in DiVX or AVI files. Also the date format is different than the one the camera outputs! I'll try the manuals again.
I suppose I could output to DV AVI, take back to premiere then output to tape for back up, or just buy a few more hard disks.
Ah, found it there is a 6 second date "feature" on the camera. Fortunatly I don't need to reshoot the footage and can now start to clean up the hard disks. Thanks for the help.
They have improved it now Grant. There was a menu to turn it off. So everything is now working smoothly (except the tapes are tangling - where is that guarantee! ).
