How do I convert to WMV from Premier?

The cleaner 5 web render engine is on the install disk for 6.0.... also the advanced Windows media export option. If you didn't install it with premiere, just install CleanerEZ5 from the original cd. Try the Export Timeline - Save for Web in 6.0. In Pro Export - Adobe media encoder

You can do that, or......you can do exactally what CamClub said, but in case he didn't explain it in enough detail, heres how you do it, Export your 10 mb file of 1 min to lets say, your desktop for instance, then open it up in windows movie maker 2, a free download from microsofts site, and then you can export to under 1 mb if you too, it all depends on what kinda quality you want. Hope that helps

Yes, Premiere does not come with that compressor standard.

Intriguing, you must have had a different version, or an update because none of my Premieres give wmv as an option.

ok what you do, export from adobe, your final cut of your movie...then go to start>>>all programs..accsessories>>>Entertainment>>>Windows Movie Maker>>> Open that up>>go to File, click on "import into collections" find your movie and it will appear, Right click in empty space (between one of the freames) and hit select all, then click on one of the pictures and hit combine...Then drag it down below. Then go >>>File>>Save movie file>>the save movie wizard comes up, then click "my computer" so it will save to your comp (DO NOT click SAVE FOR WEB) cause then it will try uploading it to microsofts server and they'll try and make u pay....>>>After that, type in the file name for your movie, then where u wanna save it.>>>After that a thing should come up saying "best quality for playback on my computer (recommended)"...below it in blue letters is "show more choices"...click that, a thing should show up saying "best fit to file size" or other settings".....select what size u want and there you go

Get the windows Media Player 9 VCM and install that, then export as a Microsoft AVI using Media 9 as the codec. Good quality, full frame, and RELATIVELY small file sizes... took a full frame full rate Quicktime that was 8 MB ( about 10 seconds of video ) and compressed it to just over 1 MB AVI - 720x480 29.97 FPS very very minor noticeable quality loss.....
Download the Codec Manager from Micro$oft

I wasn't sure what to DL, so I DLed and installed everything here
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/window ... nload.aspx
Now, when I go to export timeline, I select AVI as the format and when I goto AVI Compressors, I select Windows Media Player 9, there isn't an option to set how big you want the file to be as people talk about (Is this feature only on XP?)
And when it saves it as an AVI not a WMV,
I used a 2.44 meg source file and exported it to WMV compressed AVI with a quality setting of 20/100 and set to Fast Performance and the file that came out was 2.62 Megs, (it's 13 seconds) am I doing something wrong?

The filename is wmv9VCMsetup.exe
The Windows Media 9 codec isn't the same as the WMV codec, but should do desxcent comression. When you select Media 9 codec and click the configure button, look on the Pre-Processing tab, you can set the downsampling down to 5:1 and set the resize properties there. I just rendered a 3 MB AVI ( 2 Seconds ) to 156 kb using the default settings ( 80 % quality, Single Pass VBR 1:1 downsampling no resize). A timeline with 2 AVIs totaling 13 MB to 756 kb. With 3:1 downsampling the same 13 MB timeline was rendered to 291 kb with a bit of loss, which was probably only obvious since these were some of the short explosion clips from detonation films.... the image quality was fine, just some of the detail in the explosions was lost....
