Cropping 4:3 Footage for a 16:9 Timeline

Post by MikeMoring »

Hey.

Does anybody know how I can crop a 4:3 clip to be edited into a 16:9 timeline. When I import the clip into the 16:9 timeline (I'm using Final Cut Pro, by the way) I obviously get black bars on the left and right sides... I'd like to scale the image so that I get rid of the black bars on the sides (even though I understand that I'm going to have to lose some of the image on the top and bottom).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just expand the frame so that the sides fit the 16x9 aspect.
