Camera broken NOOOO

Post by mickcar73 »

ok i am using a digital 8 cam, and any way it starts saying reinsert tape even tho its in the camcorder. then i try to eject then it jams for ages. now when i put a tape in it makes all these really horrible noises. poor camera. Anyway it cant play or record anything for more than like 5 secs cos it keeps goin reinsert tape. So anyway theres something wrong with the tape part of the camera. HAS ANYTHING LIKE THIS EVER HAPPENED to anyone here?

Try running a head cleaning tape through it. If that fails take it into a respectable repair shop. They're really the only ones who can solve problems with delicate electronics.

just gently (well it really depends on how pis*sed off at the damn thing you are) bang the side of the camera that you insert the tape into.
even tho this sounds useless it worked for me, i had a big old camera the size of a brick but it was still better than any mini dv you could buy today, and it kept coming up with this error code and so i searched and searched for everything on the internet and tried everything that they said, but none of them worked.
and so i just got pis*ed off at it and hit it, and....it started working, it was so rediculous it was hilarious.

MiniDV and Digital8 are exactly the same, just recorded onto a different tape.

uhh, no, your wrong, my digital8 cam has a way bigger range of view, way better sound quality, better picture quality, tons more choice of manual effects than my minidv cam. so no, they're not just exactly the same just recorded on different tapes (oh yeh and it holds 30min more than the other one)

What the f**k are you on about? Is everyone going mad on this forum? *cries in to hands*

Firstly, what do you mean by 'range of view'? Sounds like a lens thing to me! Not a codec thing...

As for better sound/picture quality, it uses the DV codec at the same data rate, so you're talking cr** there

And the manual effects thing is just mental because that totally depends on what camera you have. Are you trying to say a standard home Digital 8 camera has more settings than a professional DV camera like an XL2?

And the 30 minutes thing is nearly true. You can get 90minutes on LP on a standard Mini DV tape, or you can buy 80minute SP tapes so not much difference there

An expensive camera can make all the difference but the formats are no better than each other because they're the same!

I'm gonna start shooting people in a minute!

Digital 8 and MiniDV are the same, just different storage (you can store DV on your hard drive too, but it's still the same). Just sounds like you have a higher end Digital 8 cam and a low end MiniDV cam (although why you have two cameras like that is beyond me!)
