Vinsore Weaponry

Post by rhys »

Hey,
I have decided to open this thread to ask you guys oppinion of what the weaponry in vinsore should be.
They CANNOT be guns.
These are my choices for the time being:
The Ka-Bar style fighting knife:

A katana/samurai sword:

how about axes, wooden poles, maces, wips, hammers, long nails (not human ones *cringe*), throwing daggers, throwing discs and to finish it off, i'm sure these aren't legal, a hellraiser.

Um... axes would be hard to get and wouldnt fit, wooden poles are lame, maces are stupid, i already have a whip, hammers arent scary enough, long nails< dont know what they are, throwing daggers are illegal, throwing stars are illegal, and i dont know what a hell raiser is.
And all the weapons must be a hand to hand combat fight, they cant be like a compound bow or anything unfortunetly.
The weapons do kinda look a bit choppy in those pics, but there really cool.
The sword i know ill definetly get.
Heres some more pics:
Batons:

Knife:
There was a few... Underworld, Res Evil (and Apocalypse), Kill bill, Domino

If you wanna be a lil different and more original, i say the batons. A fight scene could be much longer and more intense, because it would take a lot more than one hit from a baton to kill someone. Some cool blocks and choreograhping could come out of that.

a bat with nails in it.
A. because you dont need training to use it.
B. because its more realisitc for the character to have a bat....and nails in his house, then for a character to own crazy knives and swords....and to actually want to train and use them in a fight.
and C. you cant really mess up in a fight with it.....

Lol, yeah, i have wanted to get batons for ages but there like $76 each + $5 postage.
The ka-bar knife is like $67 + $5 postage.
The sword is like $1 + $30 postage (which is weird, but ill still get it, even if it is fraud).
Vinsore is kinda based on me, i want to hurt people, i train with weapons, so he gets to have some nice weapons.
The people vinsore kills will try and defend themselves with there bear hands, any random household objects, as well as the few weapons a rapist would have (no guns, i hate guns).

Batons for the win. Why a reverse blade katana by the way?

Meh. If you want to be really original, use knife fighting techniques with kitchen knives, and martial arts with something like a metal broomstick. I'm gonna be honest with you, Vinsore sounds a little boring, and I think it has something to do with the adolescents with disproportionately large blades thing.

And you don't like guns? What're you, gay? :P

Yeah i was thinking about completely giving up on all the weapons exept from the kabar style knife. Seeing as i do knife fighting lessons, it could be so much better.
No i am not gay, i just think that guns for australian teens is stupid. (i know someones gonna start talking to me about homocidal teens is stupid, but seriously, i know lotsa people that commit crimes, its like the law doesnt exist, anywhere.)

I'm with CTbullet, Spade and Cricket bat rules! A knife fight would kinda suck really, they aren't designed to be used in long fights and aren't as entertaining as a Katana. The problem with the Katana is that you're not gonna be able to use it indoors effectivly because of it's size. If you do you'll end up destroying half your furnature, if your going to fight much in doors then perhaps it'd be best to use a Wakizashi as it's shorter, but - in my opinion - just as cool.

But the battons would make for much more origional fighting as it isnt seen as much. Don't write around what weapon you have, get the weapon which suits your script and locations. If you've only got 3 or 4 other actors then just slicing them up with a sword will suck, and the film will just look like some shite production where someone wants to play with a sword. Using a batton would mean that each fight can be more entertaining (potentially) and would last longer.

One last thing, what are you focusing on more, the script or the fight scenes?

The script, but i need the fights or it wont exist. There is going to be like little action though, but those sequences have to work well...
