It doesn't really look that bad. I think it just needs to be distressed. Like stated before, it looks too clean. You could get water color paints or any other opaque paints and just smear it around and make it look dirty. Brown or black paints would probably work out best. You could maybe even use red paint for blood stains.

You might want to rip up the cardboard in some areas. Like around the nose and eye holes. You could even make tiny rips in the cardboard along where the wire is holding the mask together. Just a suggestion.
