Wild West - Deadwood meets Evil Dead Costumes

Post by Lawriejaffa »

I'm a producer for this guys feature film, about cowboys who fight men who turn into native american monsters at night (and bloodraging gun-toting) bandits by day.

My principal role as producer is as usual garnering finance. However, my interest in costumes has landed me wardrobe/costuming too.

So heres me trying on a costume i got recently for a townsman (incidentally all these items are picked up here and there for 'a few quid' and steadily saved, all bar the boots at the mo. Total realism isnt important, just as 'close as' i can manage for the 1860s.

Black Suit
Waistcoat
Boots
Hat
Tie
Wing Tip Shirt
Frock Style Coat

I will post more pics as we go along of costumes and props.

Looks good: I just don't like the tie (could just be me).

Change the coat with all the designs on it. How does this resemble The Evil Dead?

I would go for less patern. He looks like a 1860s inerior designer or something..with the blue tie, and the print vest. It just doesnt make the "evil" statement.

haha ! Well this guy isnt evil or anything, he's just an example (in this case) of a guy whose maybe a townsmen, or a gaudy gambler or something like that.

I've got loooads of waistcoats, incidentally its not a 'print' waistcoat. The other ones i have for loads of other characters are single breast dark or pinstripe.

Of course the ones of the era actually had collars too (the waistcoats) but sadly there much harder to get for dirt prices. I kinda like the tie, but again theres lots of ties, that just a normal tie (tied with a big knot to make it look more like an earlier tie or ascot etc)

The evil dead element is to do with the films story and not the costuming ;)

God now ill have to get holsters too ugh lol

Looks good, except I would have gone with a black tie, so as not to distract form the waist-coat. Sounds like a pretty interesting concept for a film!

PS: Is his eye swollen or is it just a bad pic?

The boots aren't perfect sadly, but basically are german parade jackboots. Yeah the overcoat was just from a charity shop going, but a nice wee find! And yep it is a western look!

Bah i like the tie! Damn you all lol, *ponders* now pistol holsters, any recommendations me american chums where they can be found cheap?

Out of novel curiosity. It is quite a place to experience should the opportunity ever present itself. A small, little town, but soo much goes on at the same time.

Do you have a different colored tail coat? If you have a black one then it would fit the waist coat and tie perfectly.
