A camera matching test
Hey folks,
I recently purchased PixelFarms PFHoe 1.0 and did a little tracking test with a peice of footage that I shot during a car show. Its a handheld shot. This was basically a test shot. The lighting doesn't match. Nothing is textured.

I was excited because I was always having trouble tracking footage in Icarus. I was having some success with Voodoo but this program is way better. I highly recommend this software. Its 49 euros which is roughly $92 I think. Great price, awesome software.

RE: A camera matching test
Wow, that's pretty cool. I tried the same thing with a Man of the Street video. But I didn't 3d it or anything: just linear up/down, side/side.
ButI did it in AE; did you have to pick one point to track it from, or was it general area boxes (I don't know, I have limited experience doing it )?

Nope. I loaded my footage in and hit the track button and it went through and tracked whatever it needed to track and then I hit the calibrate button and it went through and did its thing and then I had to orient the scene and then I exported the data for use in 3DS max.maj_barnes wrote:did you have to pick one point to track it from, or was it general area boxes?
The only trouble I'm having right now is tracking footage of driving down the road. But I'm still working on that one.

This an image from another tracking test I'm doing. I'm compositing one of them Star Trek runabouts infront of my house. The scene is already tracked but I thought I would post an image. This was more of a lighting test to try and get the 3D elements to blend correctly with the live action plate. I used an HDRI image which I took after filming the camera move. I still have a ways to go but its getting better in my opinion.

It looks like a program worth investing in... I might have to try it myself.

is there any free tracking software floating around?
Yeah there's a tracker called Voodoo. http://www.digilab.uni-hannover.de/docs/manual.html
Wow that looks pretty cool can that be done with AE
I don't know if it can. After effects is more towards 2D. Don't take my word for it. PFHoe is mainly used to track footage for use in a 3D program like 3DS Max

Yeah it was definetley worth the $99 I paid for it. Like I said earlier the only trouble I'm having is tracking footage of driving down the road

One that I forgot to mention was Icarus. If you want it just let me know. Icarus was bought out so now it is called PFTrack which is like 3,000 euro or whatever. Icarus is also used by that young man who runs peerlessproductions.comJimbobsquarepants wrote:o damn it dosnt export to blender and thats what i do of my 3d in.
He done a video tutorial on how to use the software and how to set everything up in Blender.

Are you going to be using the tracking data in After Effects or in a 3D Program?Djokicko wrote:Download Icarus it is good but it is only for non-commercial using here is the link:Jimbobsquarepants wrote:er, so how do i get it?
