Quick Final Cut Question

Post by DEDFX »

I just got the chance to use either Final Cut HD, Final Cut 3, or Final Cut 4.

I'm pretty sure Final Cut HD comes with Mac OSX and I don;t have an HD cam so thats out of the question.

Which one, overall (3 or 4) has it the best program to edit on?

It dosnt, you get iMovie (Very similar to windows movie maker) with OSx as part of the iLife group of software. Final cut is about £1000. I am using Final cut studio on my sysem ( www.peter-hoare.co.uk/finalcut.jpg)

Final cut three and four are obselete now, 5.1 HD is the latest. If you buy final cut 5, and do an apple automatic update it will update it to 5.1HD. The HD only means the system *can* handle HD. Does not mean that thats all it can handle. It has hundreds of options under the sequence settings, if you are using and HDV or and HD 1080 camera then thats what you select. In my case its usualy DV-PAL or HD 1080i sometimes.

Bear in mind Final Cut Pro is an extremly sophistacted program. The software can handle hundreds of formats, colour spaces and hundreds of other settings. It takes quite a bit of experience and training to get any decent results with it.
