Short Effects (Blanks and Squibs) Movie

Post by slimdog55 »

Here is a short effects movie I made. I made it in about an hour, so it could have been much, much better. I made this clip to test out some of my effects. First effect is my blank firing gun (Glock 17) with a silencer. The other effect is the 2 squibs in the dirt. I filmed this using the Sony HDR-HC1, which is a High Definition Video camcorder. I also tested out my sound effects skills. I hope you like it.

Here is the video:

Rapidshare

http://rapidshare.de/files/22279665/FX_Test.mpg.html

Putfile

http://www.putfile.com/slimdog55

File Type - MPEG 2
Size - 5.09 MB
Length - 19 Seconds

The original footage looks, much, much better than this clip. I downconverted this clip from HD (1440x1080) to SD (720x480). So it looks kinda bad.

P.S. I'm the one wearing the white tank top.

Sorry to say this but I think you're going to have to compress it somehow before anyone will download a 91mb file for only 28 seconds.

Yeah, I started DL'ing it then left the computer for an hour or too, so I saw it. Quality was shiney, but it was actually kinda choppy, I think my computer struggled to play it. Test looked cool, no sound though, and the credits were long (pointless actually). Nothing really special to see other than what HD looks like.

Yeah, you need a powerful computer to play HD. The audio was an .ac3 file, so that's why you probably didn't hear anything. (You need ac3 codec.) I'll compress it down to a smaller size tomorrow.

Did you use Windows Media Player? Use another player, Windows Media Player plays the files slow, and it sucks. I use InterVideo WinDVD 7 and it works pefectly.

Nope, RealPlayer, but the files gone now, and I don't feel like re-dowloading. I'll just chalk it up to an hour long session of Counter Strike eating up some processing power and hope no-one gives me an HD camcorder soon! (wait, scratch that last part...)

OK, I added a new link to the top. Now the file is around 5 MB. Any less, it would look like complete s***. Tell me what you think about it.

OK, new link at the top. Now I uploaded the file to Rapidshare. Go down to where it says free, and click it. Now wait, and the download will start.

I added the file to Putfile. (Link is on 1st post.) Before you watch it, pick "Wide" where it says "View Size:" (This show the correct aspect ratio.) Give it some time to load. The File is still the same size, 5 MB.

P.S. When you watch my clip, you will see some video's on the right side of the screen. These are NOT mine.

I used Black Cat Firecrackers with Estes model rocket igniters touching the fuse. Not very reliable, but when it works, it look awesome.

The footate looks much better when it's not so compressed.

No, it was around 29 seconds! LOL. I took the titles out so its 19 seconds now. If I put that high quality file back up, it would probably be around 70 MB for the 19 seconds.
