Brilliant yet simple Spedometer speed

Post by 2nd_Recon »

I was reading some of the old threads lookign for cool effects I could try, and I read a thread about how to make it look as if your car was going really fast while looking at the spedometer. Everyone was suggesting CGI, or whatever, and I realized a simple way to do it for real without breaking laws

Jack up the car and step on it.

This has been a public service announcement.

Thank you.

Wouldn't work on mine, because of the dual-slip differentials on the All-wheel drive! The spedometer has a digital display as well, like the Knight Rider car.

You could always just go to a car breaker's yard, and either get a dashboard with instruments, or the speedo itself. That way when you're filming, just cut close-ups of the speedo into the footage. They always use cuts in movies when they're showing car speed.

If you were using the dash and speedo of a VW Beetle for instance, all you'd need to do is connect a drill to the end of the Speedo-hook-up cable, and before you know it, you'd be doing over a 100 easily!
