Shotgun

Post by DEDFX »

Hey everyone, I'm making my first short and need your help. I'm entering it in the Phelix Awards (film competition for grades 7-12) and I have every prop except for a shotgun. It should be a very basic shotgun (wood stock, maybe double barrel)

Should I just make a model of a shotgun or should I buy a toy one and paint it? Should I buy a prop from a store or ebay, I just need to know how to get a good looking shotung for my movie.

It depends what your looking for. If you can pick one up cheap from a local store or ebay that you can slap some paint on go for it.

If not, check out some photos of one you want, find scales and if possible a guide to building a model, if not draw up your own plans and get to work.

The sky is the limit....unless your budget gets in the way :P

Are you from MA?

I want it to look like a basic remington or winchester, not a cop or S.W.A.T. gun, I'll probably go to KB Toys.

Don't go to KB toys. If you get a toy shotgun from a place like that it won't look good. Most airsoft shotguns are like the SWAT kinds, which you don't want. So I would recommend finding if your friend's parents have a real shotgun you could use. Of course you would have to assure them that you won't put bullets in it. It might be hard to convince them, but it depends on how responisble they percieve you to be.

Here is a link for a toy shotgun that would be good for you. (I hope) http://www.kapowwe.com/Merchant2/mercha ... gory_Code=
Take a look at it and tell me what you think. If you colored the red tip it would look good

Thanks, I was going to goto KB and see if they had a good looking one, not any cr** one on the shelf because of my deadline. The shotgun's a big nogo, the only shotgun I have access to is a very nice looking old double barrel in Stowe Vermont... I was looking at that shotung and its perfect but I don;t know if I can trust that site or if my parents will put their card on the net.

that site is fine. I have ordered things from there before. They won't cheat you and they wont do anything with your credit card or whatever. I would go with that shotgun

I would make one myself since it would give me a good permanant prop and also I could bang it up alot and not worry about breaking or at the least care

I love making props myself but the hard part is the stock, I don;t think I could carve one. I was thinking of ebay for a shotgun stock though.
