I've been using my friends as actors, and I learned to film chronologically and expect the worst.
I don't mind when they have ideas or want to add something, but I do mind when they don't want to rehearse or when they think a day of shooting means 2 hours.
I had to rewrite the zombie movie I'm doing now, because my main actor dropped out, because he hated rehearsing. So I killed his character off and wrote a new lead. It really messed with the structure of my movie, but there's very little I can do since I don't pay anyone.

That sucks, well you know the old saying sh*t happones. that happoned to me one, my main suporting actor fell out a week before we were going to start shooting, and we didn't have time to put a new guy in. I steped up, and then had the production fall apart, but it does suck to louse actors.
