BAMBOOZLE a new comedy from the makers of LiVE

Post by NoRemorse »

Hey guys,

Over the last month or so we've been hard at work on our new flick, and we've just about finished the first act, so I thought it would be nice to get some feedback.

BAMBOOZLE tells the story of two 16-year-old twins, who want to go on holiday with their friends after their exams. Unfortunately, they have no money. Their mother says they can go, but only if they can pay their way. They'll do anything to raise the money and, after a few badly-thought-out plans get them nowhere, they embark on a complicated con that could either send them on the holiday of their dreams, or cause them a whole world of trouble...

The film's basically about the relationship between this brother and sister. It's a feather-light caper comedy which, when finished, will be about 50-70 minutes.

Here's the first act, with a couple of small scenes missing:

very amusing, enjoyed it. bit confused about the age of the computer engineer, was he supposed to be over 18? I assume it was missing scenes but the repeated black shots irritated me. I liked the music choice, have you got liscences for them or will you change them in the final shot?

excellent, keep it coming

Yeah, he's supposed to be 18. We're hoping the audience will indulge themselves in willing suspension of disbelief.
Yeah, we're missing scenes. There will be no black shots.
We don't plan on selling the film and therefore we don't need music licences.

Thanks for your comments x

That was pretty good, I enjoyed it. Looking forward to the completed project, overall fun to watch. Music was good, don't care about the black stuff because its a movie and its "his opinion"..

Good deal, update us soon.

That gave me a good chuckle. You guys always make me laugh.
I quite enjoyed the dialogue too, it was pretty sharp. Makes me want to write a witty comedy.
I can't wait to see the final version.

Pretty good, I liked it. The comedy didn't make me laugh out loud, but it's still a hell of a lot better than most attempts at comedy that you see on here.

I enjoyed it, dialogue was good, and music was perfect. Kind of a funny coincidence though, that one song, "coin operated boy", there was group of girls who choreographed a dance to that at the local chapter of No Shame Theatre, they performed that like the night before I watched your video. It was really retarded that I went through that story, but whatever. Your movie is good, I'm looking forward to the whole thing.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It's not really meant to be a rolling-on-the-floor comedy, more a entertaining, smiley kinda film, very gentle and light.
I'm editing more now, hopefully I'll be able to post it soon.

Safe.
Here's the finished film.
Clocks in at about 35 minutes, but well worth your time.
We're all really proud of it and would love to hear what you guys think.
Enjoy.

Ah excellent little film I thought! It's rare you see stuff on here which is story driven, and not just because someone wants to make a war film or something.

Things I like include - The way you obviously did a lot of pre-production on this, getting lots of funky locations. You never see enough locations in films like this usually! Good mixed cast too. Too often on here you see big groups of guys and stuff. And of course I enjoyed the story and thought the jokes were pretty funny even if it wasn't supposed to be a LOLZ affair! Some great lines in there. Good soundtrack too.

Things that got to me a bit - I thought it was gonna be an Emo film at first! I got over it :) The shooting was a bit odd though I thought. Creative writing, but it was a bit 'point and shoot at whatever happens' with overexposed shots all over the place and stuff. Plus the end freezeframe would have been great if the hands weren't poking out of the shot in an alkward place on the screen!

All good though! Glad I thought "Ah I'm bored, I'll see what people are doing" or I'd have never discovered you guys! Good work!

What's with the funky musical paving in the shopping centre? :D

Cute movie- i enjoyed it. I would in future take care with over exposed shots where your shots have too much natural light in it giving off that white glow.. One question, the scene in the bar when the sister gets angry after being called a dyke and her face goes red- where is that borrowed from? Those sirens ring a bell (no pun intented!)
Well done- 7/10

Yep, that was our lil Kill Bill reference. There's a few more references to other films we chucked in there. Anyone notice anything??

Thanks for the kind words, Orny. And I dunno what's up with the musical square in the town centre... Something the council thought It'd be cool to waste money on?? *Shrugs*

Anyone else got anything to say??

Yeh, thanks for the love Orny. And that over-exposure, goddamn. We only found out after we'd wrapped shooting and started editing. What a kick in the nads, eh?

More comments? x x x

Waiting for it to finish buffering I was a little sceptical but the film showed that I shouldnt have been. I loved it and had a few LOL moments, without the black scenes from my last comment (i assume the missing scenes) I loved it. I found the story hilarious, and without the whore references it reminded me of the great BBC teen dramas that you dont see any more, (thats a compliment, or an attempt at one) Again the overexposure, but I didnt find that detracted much, and I dont know if it was google video, but the second bar scene wqas a bit jerky, Keep up the excellent work.
