RE: Burning Hand Tutorial

Post by ctbullet »

that was pretty cool

you seem to have put more effort into lighting your hand than we do, use spray deodrant- don't let it dry then light it, am sure your going to get some little punk kids doing it to their face, haha

i noticed you had a funny twitch when speaking to the camera, i suppose it added interest to the video

Not sure what "twitch" you are referring to but I would actually like to know what you saw.

Just so you know on the deodorant actually just seems to keep your skin from absorbing the alcohol thus doesn't seem to get as hot as quick. Not sure what science is behind that, but it probably has to do with the fact it seals your skin.

Great tutorial, very clear on all the details. I've set bits of me on fire before, but the deodorant is a new one to me, I'll have to try that next time. Thanks again!

PS: Twitch? What the eff?

so let me get this straight you put deodorant on your hand and set it on fire? basically thats all you did.... and you made a tutorial out of it?

as if its a new idea and kids havent been setting fire to aerosol products all their lives? give me a break

also you write a tutorial on HOW TO DO something which is what a tutorial is for then tell them NOT TO TRY IT?

jesus how much do you guys cost for me to hire because your full of great ideas!

in essence... LAME. Work on some worthwhile tutorials. whats next how to get a boiled egg inside a bottle using a piece of paper? cant wait to see that.

Stop being a douche bag, aaron. You're about a year late for jumping on the "I'm going to be a prick to everyone" bandwagon.

Obviously you didn't watch the video, so shut up.
All you ever post is stupid comments with a bunch of negativity. Maybe nothing is new to you because you have done all and seen all but to some, it is. Go away

Not a problem I just like to know what people see. I see things in myself that some people pick up on and others don't. Thanks for the observation though. No harm no foul

Great Tutorial!

Post by vixuxx »

That was a great tutorial! Thanks so much!

I have a slight problem tho:

my hand still gets hot really fast when I'm using the 60% isopropyl alcohol. Is there anything else I can use instead of deodorant?

Thanks!

Vixuxx
Thanks for the question:

To answer honestly not that I know of, the only way I was able to go as long as I did in the I Told You So episode was because of movement, air keeps your hand cooler. The first shot of me on fire when it cuts I am still on fire the whole time, it was a long burn, but we thought the cuts added so we went with it. The only thing I can say try soaking your hand in cold water in between scenes, it helps. I will post a little later the entire burn scene without the cut so you guys can see how long it actually was. Also there is another scene where I lit my pants on fire I will add that on there also, it was pretty funny....

Speaking of observations to ipon, I thought your logo was the mouth of a bass whenever I looked at it quickly....

I didn't know isopropyl was really flammable, thanks for not making me bored in my free time.

There is stuff called "no-mex" or "lo-mex" gel that stunt men rub all over them to protect them from the fire, that and special suits like wet suits.

Oh, isypro is flammable alright, I've got a story involving a campstove, a clumsy friend and my crotch that I just love to remember.

1. I watched the video.

2. He rubbed a deodorant stick on himself and then added alcahol like it was going to make it less hot.

3. Even tho he did all this the hand was on fire for like 3 seconds at best.

You think im just here to make fun of you but im serious when i say this is a pointless and stupid video. All he did was talk it up and then light his hand on fire twice?

You know you can make home made "Barricade" which is a fire retardent clear gel that proffesionals use to put on themselves so they dont get burnt while doing stunts. Also you wouldnt use deodorant because it evaporates too fast... thats why your hand doesnt get hot there is no fancy chemical reaction going on there.

so in respect to everyone that thinks im here to take the p*** out of everyone grow up and start thinking for a change... if your not going to prepare for a stunt with proper materials and then make an unimpressive tutorial out of it then have fun getting a pile of morons telling you how helpfull it was instead of making some real movies like real movie makers.

your just all pathetic if your seriously backing this guy up. Should i post bomb making videos by Al qaeda maybe you can give them praise too?

We're backing him up because you can't get it through your thick goddamn head that acting like a b**ch on her period is not going to get a damned thing done.

The bad part of that video is you actually can't see how high it really went because the frame wasn't high enough. We ran way back up the hill and it blew little pieces of rock up onto my parents deck, which was probably 120-150ft away..lol... I couldn't believe it, it was way way bigger then we thought it would be. That was shot in Wisconsin last summer, my brother who owns the land came running down and said, "my god that was the loudest one you guys have ever lit"...then we all went walking down to where it went off and saw that huge hole, the hole that thing left was about 2 feet across and about 18" deep... so he says "you guys need to fill that whole in or its gonna wreck his hay cutter"... I said how, there's no dirt anywhere to put back in, and there wasn't..it was just loose sand basically...ROFL....good times...good times....

*sigh* another situation where your pride takes over your ability. stop being proud about this because every kid with a deodorant can sets their hand on fire.

ive posted my work here look it up... its funny you might think im rude and a dickhead but i dont ever remember telling someone to shutup or to leave the site. just like an american to totally and blindly contradict themselves.

now again... go make a tutorial that is helpful instead of a how to set something that is flammable on fire with a lighter because ive kinda advanced futrther than that.

Your work? You posted one DVD menu and called it a day. Moreover, what the hell does ipon's nationality have to do with anything? I mean honestly, if you're going to act like you're a pro, it's kind of common sense to not act like a damn whiny 12 year old.

Really, your people skills just shock me. I honestly can't see you advancing beyond small-time wedding videos, since you can't get past your inflated ego for more than three seconds to act with civility, maturity and diplomacy.

haha you obviously didnt look hard... ive posted stuff, made s*** for people and helped them. I mean i could post alot of crappy test movies all day but i prefer to work hard on my work instead of a 10 minute substitute.

i give my honest thaughts on what i see i dont claim to be a pro and most of my comments are damn helpful unless its a retort to someone having a moan because i was too abrupt about it or something? am i seriously supposed to sit here and oogle over everything you make and say its perfect just to be liked by you people?

because the fact that i tell you my honest thaughts and are hated for it kind of makes me proud not to be admired by idiots like yourself anyway. i mean if you want me to post crappy muzzle flash movies and cruddy 3d animations that took 10 minutes to make and post them here and you tell me how good they are even tho i know how s*** it is? it makes me sad.

reading how you steal music videos sound effects...etc from movies the internet and think its acceptable.

the half assed approach and shooting and composition of effects shots and your excuses are "its a test"

i mean im getting flamed for expecting more? if you dont like it ignore it... if you think my advice is valid then take it. your a big boy and can choose to care or not care about whatever you like.

In fact I don't care at all that you people get offended by me stripping your stuff bare. grow up because this is getting stupid the amount of 15 year olds crying because i told them their lightsaber looked like s***.

how are you going to feel when the director tells you that your shot sucks he hates it and wants you to try harder? going to complain to him about how rude he is? good luck keeping your job.

And AS IF im going to treat my superiors the way i treat people here what a stupid idea but then again you guys are full of them lately.
