Blurred Background
I want to achieve the effect used in high-budget movies, where the camera can focus in one on thing, and blur the rest. Such as a blurred background, with the focus of the camera on a person. How can I achieve this? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

This is called, "Depth of Field" and is mostly achieved with using a Telephoto Lens. The lens generally brings the background closer towards the camera and it puts it out of focus. This is harder to achieve on a consumer camcorder, when you watch a movies, "Making of feature" you'll notice somebody is measuring the distance from the camera to the actor, this is so theyc an set the focal length to where they want the most focus attention.
Generally to do this with a consumer camcorder you need to:
-light what is being focused on more than anything else.
-purchase a telephoto lens (so you can zoom farther)
-Zoom in more on the object in focus
-and possibly buy a boom mic if dialoge is needed (your camcorder is going to be too far)

The cheapest 35mm adapter I know of for commercial sale is the Letus35, avalible from http://www.adapterplace.com/. If you're feeling adventureous though, check out the Alternitive Imaging section on DVinfo.net and learn to build your own for up to about 50 bucks.
