im rick james b**ch... enjoy yourself

its the start introduction to a dvd for a friends band. theyre like emo rock punk or whatever it is these days. so think of it as the start of a motion menu on a DVD.

oh theres not meant to be sound... try sound effects section for that... NEXT!

That was pretty cool. Is there any chance that you can provide a small explanation on how you created the menu?

I like it. I dont forgive you for the pointless insults to other peoples work, but at least I now know you have skills to back up your critisism

the graphics were done using greyscale values on different layer modes for the burnt look, some gradient dissolves and keyframing and some stuff i drew on paper and scanned in like the skull and etc. all basic stuff i just put my spin on it which is what im trying to teach you guys anyway. okay if your copying effects to learn or whatever but you can still put your own spin on it.

I think emo is just extremely whiny, softcore punk. Real punk is like The Wednesday Night Heroes. Greenday used to be punk, but they've kinda gone emo. Not that they're bad or anything, Blv of Broken Dreams was good, but they play it on the radio so often that I get tired of it.

nahh have to disagree there the writing that comes up looks amateurish not very flowing and quite broken and disjointed, which i would deduct several merits for, at the end of the day i'd look for an alternative career if i were you mate

I think it's suppost to look like that. Kinda like Se7en's opening.

But I have to agree with Zombie: just because Steven Spielburg is a good director doesn't give him the right to spit in people's faces.

Think of it this way, his comment about your DVD menu is something you might say to someone elses work.

First off, I though the work was fantastic. It's better than around 70% of all DVD menu's in my collection. It did seem a touch repetitive, an I wouldn't want to sit through it over and over if I was to return to the menu while watching the DVD. Top notch work, nobody can truthfully say otherwise. Alright, here's where the post get's political: aaronv2 used to frequent this forum under a differnet name, and wound up leaving about a year ago after a major incident (similar to what is happening here) between him and another prominant member. Yes, he cuts people down like a razor sythe of criticism, but I ask each and every one of you who have been citiqued by him, did it make you want to do better, if only to show him up? Would you like to post something amazing, just to shut aaronv2 down? If so, then I feel he has served a purpose here; yes, he is harsh, probably unnecesarily so, but accept the criticism, buck up, try harder, and shut him up, not by whining and filling topics with negativity, but with better work. Rock on.

You have a point their but the whole thing is, he can influence people without being above them. Do I have a problem with the guy? In one way yes but do I hate him? No. When he gets past the cutting of people down he does offer useful suggestions on how the effect can be better. I do not wish this to be a repeat of last year. I believe that aaronv2 can be a great teacher to those on here willing to learn. I am willing to learn and to better myself in this type of work or hobby as I call it, but teaching doesn't have to be cutthroat to get the point across.

um, frankly i think he's a dick, i personally don't care what he says about my little clip because i had never used after effects before, but thats not the point,
much like wildstorm said, critism here is to give suggestions in a way to improve work, not to simply 'inform them' that their work is complete s***. aaronv2, if you are anyhting like this outside of a forum, i honestly cannot see you having any friends, and the ones you have are probably just like you which isn't saying much,

"revenge is sweet isn't it" frankly thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard, revenge is handing out justice for an offence to you, and you are definately NOT the one being offended.

on a side note, people honestly don't care how good your work is if your sole purpose in putting it up is to have an excuse to tell everyone else that their awful, so you can either shape up or get out because nobody wants you here.

Ive never noticed anything particularly bad about aaron to be honest, I mean jesus some people need to learn 'how' to dismiss criticism.

Life may be full of assholes but you cannot control them, you can only control your response to them, (and im not presuming aaron is an nob here.)

Some people that frequent this forum are kids, others are professionals. Working as a businessman in the field of video, (i do corporate video and YES i do live off that as my wage...) I can say clearly that when i give advice or crit, i compare it to professional work. It seems this is what Aaron does...

In anycase, even aaron will have to learn, that being 'diplomatic' is essential if you want to forge a career in the media or film industry.

I also think its unnecessarily spiteful to condemn his submitted work for any motive other than truthful response... (clearly some responses on this thread are not...)

It was very well made, that is all I've got to say, don't make any changes (with the exception of music adding).
