Horrors of War WEB DOCS online!

Post by sonnyboo »

http://www.horrorsofwarmovie.com/scene6.php

This is the first of a series of WEB DOCUMENTARIES on the making of Horrors of War, my first feature film, co-directed by John Whitney, and produced by Phil Garrett and Sean Reid.

SCENE 6 was a something that went from 1 line to 2 pages and I thought people might dig seeing how this process worked. I hope you like it.

Expect to see many more in the coming months as we put more BEHIND THE SCENES and MOVIEMAKING TIPS videos on the site

Thanks, and officially I cannot disclose what our budget is. Officially I can say "under $1 million", but we were operating as a low budget production with high production values.

did you get some sort of sponsership or movie deal, because normal people dont have 1 million to invest in a film, are you hoping to screen it and make a profit or is it still for fun

Look.... there are a lot of numbers under $1million.... some of them are a lot less.... I just can't say exactly which one that we had....

We did not have a studio deal of any kind. His was very independent. We're looking to get DVD and TV deals for it, same as everyone else.

I like the added time code for extra professional effect, and the fact it's been magically copyrighted NEXT year!

I'm nit-picking, it's looking amazing!

Yes it is very impressive indeed. Making your own set is not something independent filmmakers do everyday.

Uhhhh.... the timecode is generated by the digibeta decks, and it was added so we can do an online edit that conforms to our DVCAM tapes. It's fairly standard.

The DVD won't be released until 2006, so it's copyrighted for next year.

No big deal, glad you liked it.

We built this set for under $100... I never thought Indies & Low budgets could build sets for cheap, but yes you can.

Web Documentary - "John's First Day"
http://www.horrorsofwarmovie.com/john.php

John Whitney tells the story on what his first day directing on Horrors of War was like. Managing a tank, a jeep, extras, costumed actors and two pages of dialogue in a single shot.

This is a series of WEB DOCS on the making of Horrors of War, a WWII action-horror-sci fi story coming soon. These documentaries are DVD-style tidbits showing the behind the scenes workings of a low budget indie film.
