Possibly with the free software that's usually bundled in with these DV camcorders???

I guess yo'll need some software if it didn't come with any!

also, I don't know if your computer has the connection, but strive for a firewire connection. A usb connection is fine for moving pictures, but it just does not have the bandwith to keep up with video.

hi

i also have a sharp vl-z8hDV camcorder and due to it's capabilities you need to get a firewire card IEEE1394 for use with the iLink. Unfortunately the camera doesn't have USB streaming so you can only use USB for transferring stills.

what spec computer have you got? I have a laptop with a 2GHz processor, 512mb of DDR RAM, 64mb graphics and built in stereo sound. I opted for a Belkin Firewire Cardbus Adaptor... it works a charm. I also used Videowave 3 and got brilliant results especially with the 1.33megapixel output.

you will get anywhere unless you buy a firewire card. they are pretty cheap (about $40) and they come with a firewire cable. it's also incredibly easy to install whether you have a desktop or a laptop.

oh and most firewire cards come with free editing software too. it's not great software, but you can do basic stuff with it like cut stuff out, add transitions, and add music.
