Weed Sprayer For Headshot

Post by slimdog55 »

Will this 1 gallon pump up weed sprayer be powerful enough for a headshot?

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... id=1551064

http://www.exposure.co.uk/eejit/blood/

Also, any tips on how to do the headshot? Should the fake blood just be water and food coloring? (So it could be pushed out of the tube easier.) I have two headshots, side views, in my movie. I hope to film this tomorrow. So any help is appreciated.

We used something like this in "Forgotten". The blood was basically water, red food coloring, and flour all mixed very well. It will stain clothing.

Exposure's a great site, you can't use karo syrup for this due to the thickness but you can add water to karo(before adding food coloring). You need a longer tuube so get one at the hardware store, also I heard using powder based food coloring won't stain, unlike food coloring... I would go with the food coloring unless you want to spend $$ on powder coloring..

So will the 1 gallon pump up sprayer be strong enough to shoot the fake blood a good distance?

It should. I have never tried a head shot though, only body hits and it looked good.

You dont nessacerily need that weed sprayer. If you have a tube at your place just pour some fake blood down it and blow. It should do the job depending on your expectations. You could try it, but a weed sprayer is a good investment.
Ewwwww....... is that a bit of Covenant on my helmet?

I love the tutorial on exposure, but for the stomache hit you can see the hole already. Is there an easy way to cover this up?

you could get a thin square of tissue or toilet paper and seal it onto the shirt with some glue, once the glue is on the paper it will be transparent,
once dried it will seal up the hole and shall be easily tear-able for the stomach hit....

thats a good idea , but obviously you'd have to be wearing a white shirt for this to look right.

i've found that dyed milk and corn syrup works well, add a little bt of chocolate syrup to the milk, this helps with opacity, water generally get too clear for me.

ive used this with the weed sprayer method, works great!

I've stopped using weedsprayers and just use the compressed air cans that you use to dust off stuff, they seem to work really well for me.

Don't ask me how, it just works; and the blood I was using was pretty frickin' thick too. Here's a test video:

http://rapidshare.de/files/5270195/bloodtesty.wmv.html

Yes, I know some of the problems with the video, but it's just a test. The first shot was about 2 inches from the wall pointing striaght up into the wall while attached to the bench. It was pretty powerful it shot it out 12 feet onto the driveway. You can see alittle bit get on the gutter to the left side.

I shot it out from three feet from a wall and it made a pretty good looking splatter. Once you move up to 4 feet it starts to drop about 8 inches from the exit wound point.

Oh, it was really low tech, lol. Lots and lots of duck tape!

The little trigger I pulled open alittle bit then put the hose in then duck taped the cr** out of it.
