For inspiration try Rodriguez's Rebel Without A Crew, or any filmmaker biography.

For techniques and knowledge, I don't know any, because I don't bother with them.

I have read about 20 biographies, rebel without a crew, breaking in, a book about sundance, and thats about it. They are great, but Id recommend learning other ways. like making films as much as you can, working with software, writing, and watching as many films as you can

Books won't teach you s*** compared to actually making a movie. Don't bother reading up about it, just learn how to do it through trial and error. Trust me, it's the only way you'll get better.
