Trailer for my upcomming film "1812"!

Post by John Groshko »

Here's a link were you can download the trailer for my new film "1812".

http://12.22.230.41/MicroTech/Host/File ... er_WM9.zip
It's around 6 mb, and you'll probably have to download it (being that it's a zip file).

There is also another topic on this board that has many pictures and comments on the film.

So tell me what you think of the trailer. (and keep in mind that it's just a trailer)

That was great. The music matched perfectly, the cuts were exact and you hade a nice selection of footage. That was a "real" trailer; reminded me of the type you would see in a Hollywood movie.

Couple of little things:

1. Usually music isn't played during the part that says "The following preview has been approved for..."
2. One of the titles said "The story of one man's remarkably journey."

Other than that, I loved it. Deep narrator voice made it sound very professional!

Excellent - cant wait to see it! i think youve dispelled any fears that people had about 'the look of it'.

to be critical:
not the best muzzle flashes/explosions ever, but i cant do much better so tell me to shut up if u like!

The love scene was a good shot but sholuld have just been the one cut as it looked like they were having trouble and it just seemed a little long (the shot that is!) it also would have been better placed after the helping off the horse and kissing shot.

Good job - when can we see it?

Thanks for the feedback guys! Keep it up.

In response to Passit comment,
I don't know what shot your talking about that has a horse in it. You must be referring to the trolley that she was sitting on.

Very good trailer!

Nice music, voice over isn't really my kind of thing but it sounds good.
The scenes ar well chosen and almost any of them are very realistic except for some fighting scenes but that doens't matter too much. You did a great job!

that was one of the better trailers on this site. I can imagine faking gunfire from a muzzle loading gun should be easier than with modern firearms, why did you cg then? I would have just borrowed a few muzzle loading guns, loaded them minus the lead ball and fired them. That's what they use for reinactments.

Thanks for all the posirve feedback guys! I'm going to try to upload the film somtime within the next week or so (when I'm able to find some webspace). But keep it comming.

I response to crb:
I didn't know anybody who had "real" muskets that worked; and, I needed around 15 muskets in total. So it was a pretty tall order, so I just used fake muskets, and composited the the smoke and flash in later. It was far more pratical.

not quite sure if this is true, but did Canada use the maple leaf flag in 1812? cause I'm pretty sure it became our flag in the 60's

actually Canada didn't become a country until after WWII because the brits felt bad that they yelled at Hitler for owning territories so they gave up all these colonies they held so they wouldn't be seen as hypocrits and that is why we have problems in N Ireland and Isreal/Palastine. But that's just a little side note on Britain.

Yes the flag was actully adopted in the 60's, But I took a creative license, and in the film I say the flag was invented in 1812. I'm surprised so many people on here were able to point that out.

I'm still looking for webspace to host my movie. Anybody know were I can get some for free? Or would anybody be willing to host it for me?

Thanks for the link; but I've tried freewebs before, and their not good enough for hosting video files (unless the're small). I don't think hosting a 50min movie on freewebs will work.

I remeber seeing a segment on TechTV, were they showed a site that hosted video files for free, so long as you alound other users to freely download them. Anybody know what site I'm talking about? I think it was one one or two months ago.

Thanks for the feedback on the trailer.

Very good! I've gotten a bit bored of the trailers on this site of late so it was good to see one like that

Problems being -

1. The sound levels. The music really drowns out the voiceover. I didn't notice there was a voiceover for a bit
2. Why were there two black bars either side of the footage?
3. That spelling mistake. It kinda ruins the professionalnessnessness of the trailer

Other than that, very good!
