Now I cant try this bcuz my mom is over-protective, but here it is...
NEEDS
Small firecracker (like a black-cat)
Metal wire
Car battery
STEPS
1. Whilst being careful, pull the fuse outta the firecracka
2. stick the metal wire into the fire-cracka
3. thread the wire through the dirt, back to you (where the battery is)
4. Touch the battery and wire together
5. KER-POW!
I'm not TOTALLY sure this would work, and like i said, my mom wont let me try it anyway.
Sooo, if any1 tries this, plz post a Video of it, I wanna see.
Peace out...bitches,

Well, I was watching extra features on Saving Private Ryan and Spielberg used a see saw like design. He hand a piece of 2x4 wood with a rock under the middle and put dirt on the lower end. When people stepped on the other end, dirt puffs up.

Well, that's a simple electronic detonator, so yes it will work, however it must be TWO wires, one to the positive terminal and one to the negative terminal on the battery. Joining the two should be a thin piece of wire that won't accept the load of the short circuit, such as a tiny thread of fine steel wool. That goes in the firecracker, and when the circuit is applied it heats rapidly then ignites the powder. No reason you shouldn't try it yourself too, its no more dangerous than a firecracker on it's own.

well not exactly, he did use this method but definitely not in Saving Private Ryan. He used that method when he was a kid. i'm sure thats what you meant but it sounded like you were saying he used the see saw method in SPR.PapaMurf wrote:Well, I was watching extra features on Saving Private Ryan and Spielberg used a see saw like design. Anyway mercenary this has actually been suggested before, there is even a design for a switchboard for the firecrackers so that you can set off a whole line of them.

first off, hi all, i'm new here, first post.PapaMurf wrote:Well, I was watching extra features on Saving Private Ryan and Spielberg used a see saw like design. anyway me and some mates actually tried this trick in an old quarry, it's harder to pull off than speilberg makes it looks; you gotta make sure the space below the actors knees is not visible in shot (not easy in a sparse quarry), and that the board is properly angled, and that the dirt you use is quite dense (not like quarry dust), and that the actor doesn't mind flinging himself over at the correct time, and that the surface is not to hard for the actor to fall on(not like a quarry floor).

sand and flour work well too, i usually use that combination.
