Slow motion #2

Post by Pubicface »

How would i go about making a shot slow motion without the crappy choppyness?
For example the Matrix slow mo shots, (for those who have seen the movie The Rundown) the shot were the Rock brakes that piller of bricks. Thats the kind of slow mo I'm lookin for.

Slo mo like that is done by shooting around 48 or 72 fps, 2 and 3x 24p. To do this you would need a professional camera (not DV, but film). The closest you can get w/ dv is to use an app called RealViz ReTimer Pro, which uses frame interpolation, and will set you back about $350.

Try this: for smooth slow-mo import your file and slow it down to about 50% or to an amount that doesn’t stutter. Now export that as a file [so create a new file of the slowed down footage] and call it 'slow-mo 1'. Import ‘slow-mo 1’ and slow it down a further 50%. You should have smooth slow-mo. Export that as your final file. This method works great and quality is fine!

As far a smooth slow-mo goes, I have gotten the best results using PDJ's above mentioned method, and.. sigh... (good sweet lord, I am not about to say this) Windows Movie Maker. Yes, it's good for something.

they do now make dv camera that shoot at 24 fps and it looks almost like film (but not perfectly cause film acually runs at 23.987fps, I forgot why but...yea)
I found avid really good at slowmo, I use it now in stead of premire
