My Stupid Router

Ok, when i connect to my router...im tryin to make it so i can remotely connect...(its XP pro)....now whats confusing the hell out of me, in advanced mode it says "Remote management port 8080 - disabled" do i need that enabled?

Keep that disabled, that lets you connect to the router from the internet on port 8080... if you are trying to connect to rheborn's machine with VNC, then he will need to open the inbound port and map it through to his machine on his router,, you should theoretically have to do nothing.. if he is trying to connect to you via VNC then you would have to map the port through to your machine. If you have enabled any firewall control then you may need to open a port on the fire wall software either on your PC or on the router, whichever is running the FW to let the traffic out.. and if you are using SP2, then you will definitely have to create a servixce for the VNC port and open that if you are running the windows firewall...

i wanted NOT to use VNC, i can connect to his, just i just upgrades to Xp pro on both of my comps....but this one i want him to use the remote desktop connection

OK then you just ned to set up port forwarding on your router, this is an inbound connection, so just map the port through the router to your machine...
