does anyone recon this is the right card for putting my hi8 camcorder films onto the computer or should i not be so tight?

That card doesn't support above 640x480 res on video capture which is less than you need for DVD. allthough if you are only going to produce VCD or Web versions then it would be OK.

Try and find a card that captures in not just MPEG formats but some higher quality frame based like MotionJPEG.

go to google and search "Dazzle : Digital video creator"....its analog capture source for composite video cords (the red,yellow,white cords)...plugs right into your usb....then to the cord, then the cord to your camera....works gr8 for me.

Dazzle DVC 80 sux... try the cannopus ADV 100 about $129.00 USD I believe, but the low end standard for conversion of an analog signal to DV....
