WRIT IS FINALLY DONE, AND ONLINE

Post by SgtPadrino »

Alright, the first real project I've ever worked on (Writ), started in summer of 2003, is finally friggin done. We never really finished filming cause we were too lazy, so basically I just took the actual film footage, edited it together with a shootout my brother and I did a while ago, and added narration to make the whole thing coherent. Funny thing is, it's actually surprisingly good (no joke), considering that every single line was improv, and we made up the story as we went along. Unfortunately the whole improv thing made for some retarded humor, but I edited out most of it. But seriously, I doubt it's like any independent movie any of you have seen around here so far. Enough of the mindless hype machine, here is the link to the film. It's a little over half an hour long, and the file size is 37 megs. You also need DivX to watch it.

Looks good, very nice compression too. A couple gripes: The music was too loud at the beginning, drowned out the narration, and that is the most overused song ever, it fit the visuals well, but I'm so sick of hearing it. Except for those too things (which don't really have much to do with the movie itself), this looks like it should be a captivating little action flick.

EDIT: You need Divx to see it Spike, without it all you get is audio.

well the music was to loud, and the picture small but clear, other then that it looks like a normal action flick, can't really say anything more from the trailer.

Pretty cool, (this is what I think) but at the beginning you started the music off too late, and a few shots were shaky, but it was cool. I woulda had the music slowly fade up though.

Looks interesting, I liked the camera angles in a few shots, (ex: big tree!) Just a nit pick would be if you were killing things or robbing stuff, would you wear a bright baby blue face mask?

Actually the mask is green - it just looks like that because of the blue filter I added for that scene.

Nice trailer, liked the cinematography. Looking foward to the film :) Only issue was the shaky cam on some shots, but other than that good job.

Yeah all of the nighttime driving montages in the movie are completely inspired by Heat and Collateral.

No the music isn't Linkin Park, it's Clubbed to Death by Rob Dougan. About as far away from Linkin Park as you can get without switching genres. Another snow day today, so I'm gonna try and upload it today then, cross yer fingers everybody.

HAH. It's finally online!! Writ (Run time: 33:51, size: 37 megs. DivX is required to view it, get it at www.divx.com)

And remember, it's not as much of an action movie as it's advertised; the first fifteen minutes is much more just silly comedy than anything. But I hope that you guys can enjoy it at least a little bit.

Well, I downloaded it and watched parts, but the compression finally got to me. I couldn't even read the credits, so I didn't watch the whole thing, just scanned. It was interesting though, and I would gladly put up with a longer download time just to see it presented in a manner that shows the piece for what it is.

Yeah well, problem is, Epsilon's server only allows for 40 meg uploads. I'll try and get as much out of it as I can, but I'm not promising anything great.
