Hey. Is anyone here using that program that allows your PC to be used for research? Its being advertised on this site and im thinking about using it. Is it legit, and will it effect my day to day computer useage? thanx

Dude, that is spyware... Your amount of popups will triple, your personal info will be mined and sent out to various companies so that ads can be custom displayed for you. DO NOT DO IT!

http://www.grid.org/ is legit. I run the 'cure for cancer' program which is affiliated with Oxford University.

As my PC is running 24/7 it gives it something to cruch while I am doing other stuff (like working, sleeping, going to the loo).

its called folding and vamp no its not damn spyware it uses your cpu cycles when your cpu is not doing anything once your playing a game or such it does nothing and does not affect your performace, basically what it does is puts proteins and such together which helps scientists research diseases.
The premiere one is called folding@home google it and im sure you will find more info.
