Anti Virus help

Post by Carnage7p »

ok i have Nortan anti virus and internet security. and whenever i turn off my firewall this window continually pops up and i have to click ok everytime. it says

-Firewall protection is turned off

Open your Norton product to resolve these issues.

then there is a check box below that says

"To prevent duplicate security status alerts, use my existing product alerts and turn off redundant Windows Security Center alerts.
(Recommended)"

i cant find where to turn off redundant windows security center alerts. please help its really annoying.

Why would you turn the firewall off???? maybe I'm missing something here..... If certain activities are being blocked by the FW, then just open the ports needed for that specific application...

No idea how to use Norton FW look at the docs, it should tell you how to open ports for inbound and outbound traffic, just have to know initial connection port, any subsequent ports for secondary connections, and if it is TCP or UDP. The Norton docs should walk you through the mechanics, as far as the ports needed, a google search usually turns up a message board with just about any app you could want
