Macromedia Dreamweaver!

Post by El Brenty »

I'm downloading the 30-Day trial version of this at the mo (98.5MB), and hope to be using it for my project.

Has anyone else used Macromedia Dreamweaver yet?

If it works out, I'll probably buy the full version - I've seen some academic versions available, like on Amazon for instance, so if I found a student, I could buy it for them!

Does anyone know if there are infact any differences in the academic and normal versions, or is it purely on the licensing?

Also, if I get on that well with the product, I may push the boat out and get Macromedia Studio MX instead.

Comments please, this is a big outlay if I go for it. Feedback is valued!

when i bought my student discounted adobe video collection there wasn't any difference. i don't think there is a difference at any student discount places unless you buy OEM stuff.

Right, I've noticed that OEM stuff is cut down. OK, turns out that a friend of mine may be getting me a legit free copy of Macromedia Studio MX - Someone owes him a favour, and he owes me a favour! Lets hope it works out!

As you, yourself said, Dreamweaver is good for editing code! You can still be a purist with it, so it would seem! Best of both worlds!

It's a great program. I recommend doing the tutorials for sure, they helped me. Once you get the hang of the program, it's really easy to use and you can make some good looking stuff. Im more artistic so I would rather do this that code in html

Me to! The reason I'm trying it out is because it can handle SQL databases and create the required php code, plus from what I've seen already, it ain't half bad for web page creation anyway!

I like Dreamweaver MX, we got the 30-day trial on our UNI textbooks. As well as all the MX studio. Director is excellent, easy and fun, Flash is harder but good, and Dreamweaver is an SIP website tool. I don't like its tables designing though, I seem to be able to achieve better in Frontpage for that. Cause the SIP site has tables within tables within tables for all its structure.
