Do you guys realize that this thread has been going on for three months now? And in the end niether the Mac nor the PC is considered better, a completely neutral outcome.

Gotta love these debates!

Well, I think we can all agree to differ!

I think PCs are better, but Mac users are so brainwashed by what they are told that they think Macs are better! I can live with people's false perceptions like that!

Final Results:

Macs - s***

PC's - More capable of editing and doing stuff for video than mac's ever will be.

I thought we endded this f-ing debate. I don't care if you use a Mac as long as you don't try to convert me and say that I'm stupid for useing a PC, and I will afored you the same respect the other way.

I must say, that this post was not meant to be a debate, but for some strange reason, it ended up as one...

I simply wanted to know which (if any) users used macs for video editing.

I would also like to say that the term PC, refers to both mac and windows systems. So if you are trying to put mac's down, do not call windows systems PC's, referring to mac's as not being a PC.

PC = Personal computer, not a windows system....

Now please don't debate this. I know you are all tempted to. But i am simply stating a fact. Please try not to start firing up on each other again.

Thankyou.

Why not. PC is just a generic term for non Mac comps, I know it means Persnal Computer but most Mac people would kill you if you said they were on a PC, weather you were right or not. Technicly we are on IBM patern comps, but who cares right.

That's right, PC was a branded name for IBM Personal COmputers. And all the PCs out there are still IBM Compatible! Gosh, now that's a phrase I haven't heard in a long time! (Misquoted star-ward there if you didn't notice!)

Yeah, I used to have a 286 - IBM Compatible! It has 16 colour 640 X 480 graphics. The Hard drive controller card was a full size card (Er, that's about a foot long I guess), and you had to set the IRQ settings and addresses manually!

It had 8MB RAM which was huge, and a 20MB Winchester hard disk drive which was the size of a housebrick! 5 1/4 inch floppy disks back then!

IBM still makes great computers. They are mostly directed toward a business environment, but you can buy one right offtheir website, and they are in the same price range as Dell :)

And I did own an IBM at one time, it was down in my basement, but it had some good games. The 8 color glory! :P

Probably for me the only resion that I never moved to macs when I got into Video editing is that I am a hopeless Computer game freek, and for that I need a PC because Escape Velosity just don't cut it.

I shouldn't really get back into a debate, but seemings it's never gonna end anyway. here goes....

Mac's do have games, they have all the good games (key word good) games that are available on windows systems. You really just have to ask at your computer game store for them to order one, buy online, or go to an apple store (Well at least thats how it works down under). Mac has over 6,000,000 users. Yet no matter what all the computer experts say, "mac's are far better than windows", people still choose Windows for their own reasons. It's the same with people preferring nokia's over motorola etc... Yet when the people actually give the other (say the nokia, or macs) a fair go they become less hooked to the other.

Now personally i use mac's for editing, yet produce games on a windows system for windows users.
