What computer should i get?

Post by townshend88 »

I'm thinking about getting a computer for normal use, but I also want to run adobe premier and aftereffects. i was looking at the HP media center but does anyone have some comparably priced computers that are better suited for editing? How does the media center stack up for this task?

I got a HP pavilion, a340n for 729 bucks, the tower itself, and its a gaming/media PC...ati radeon 9800 128, 1024 mb of ram, this is a great machine, any machine over 2+ ghz is good for video editing, maybe a little less in my opinion

I dunno Truggy, my Emachines works almost perfect, but I have DSL too, dunno if that has anything to do with it, maybe. ANyway, mine works great.

Also, I've been wantin' an Alienware PC, it'd be cool.

Mine doesn't really lag, I mean...well, nope. WEll, exept for AvRack, a audio video player, that takes a bit to bring up my playlist, but it's real big though.

customize one. thats what i did. 2.8 ghz, 2 gb ram, 250 gb hard drive, 5.1 surround sound, etc got it for just under 2000. but if you dont want to spend that much you can get rid of 5.1 surround. go with an 80 gb hard drive. maybe more like 2.2 ghz, and 512 to 1 gb ram. then it will be really resonably priced. mine works amazingly well. and go with a CRT monitor. much better for editing in my opinion and it will save you some cash. saved me $200 on the monitor alone.

How much do you want to spend, that will help us more. do you also need a new monitor? are you going to be gaming at all?
