ww1 mines
Is there any way i can add mines on to a world war one landscape. I've made the landscape, i just need some blue-screen mines to put over it.
I know that one way is to use a board on a pivot covered in debris. I want a few more ideas though. Im looking for mines because i dont think the explosions should have fire in them. Just flying dirt. Any good websites with free clips on them. Except for detonationfilms.com.
Thanks

well, you could film it yourself if you have an air compressor, or even a foot pump. Just hook up a small tube to it, fill the tube with dirt, and shove down. Repeat so all the explosion don't look the same.

If you know what you are doing, composited footage can look extremely convincing. I've had people ask me if I've done real dirt impacts while they're all composites.
But just throw a shovel full of dirt everywhere. That is how I do my grenade blasts. Obviously, you would need a larger shovel!

If you have the means, compressed air is the best. Though, if you don't have a compressor, that might be a bit difficult. I'm in the process of trying to create an easy-to-use alternatives to compressor use of ground-blasts like you're asking about... If I come up with anything worth-while, I'll post it here.

Bowling ball isn't near heavy enough. 17 pounds of force may not even lift the level if there is a lot of dirt atop it. A 200 guy stepping on it is a lot more proficient.

You use an air compressor to build up the pressure within a tank. Then when released into a hose, it'll blast out whatever's in the other end. That's why it's commonly used with squibs. Air is a bunch safer than using a power blasting device!

I thought it was funny. I sketched a few concept uniform ideas out when I was supposed to be listening to an assembly speech over a year ago. I scanned it in some time ago, and I just came across it now, so why not put it up?

Actually, it is irrelavent to anything in the military. It's what came off the top of my head at the time.
