CD-RW Problem

Post by Truggy »

Ok, i put in the damn cd, and it starts up fine, so then i select the songs, and hit burn, it lags my comp for bout 3 mins, then says "please insert blank cd-r or cd-rw. ....The guy at best buy said its some mech failure, but under my so called "3 year hardware warranty"......its replaceable...any other thoughts?

the cdrw is just not compatible with your burner or the other way around. Try a different brand of cdrw.

seriously, if it just reads other cd's ok and burns other cd-r's fine, there is no problem, just incompatability. Find the right brand of cdrw's and stick to those.

so it does this with any black cdr or cdrw? have you tried uninstalling the software(the burning software) and reinstalling it?

no, it came on the computer, I'm gonna take it out to best buy, its covered under warranty for hardware.... i sat on the tech support phone for like an hour, no good there...lol otherwise it might just be a defective drive or some thing like that, knowing my luck.

do the warranty thing. My lite-on started doing a similar thing, and it only gets worse and takes longer.
