Hello all, it's been awhile since i posted but im asking for your guy's help and opinion! Ok, so for my next film I would really like to make a moody film such as "Punch-Drunk Love", "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and the upcoming "Garden State"(looks great!!!). So i'm trying to brainstorm and come up with ideas. I would like to know what you guys thinks sounds like a good premise for that genre of movie. Any ideas are great!

Have the movie real slow, the main character a little depressed, and slow depressing music.

Do it in really dark colours like that movie Freeze Frame with Lee Evans.

Drama movies like this require excellent acting! Since that is what you'll mostly see, story is also very mandatory.

Black and white is for sissies that are trying to mask their terrible films with an artsy indie look. I mean, you think Requiem for a Dream would've been as disturbing/depressing in black and white?

What about that Crazy 88's bit in Kill Bill? That would have been so much more awesome in glorious technicolour.

i rest my case, however, i must agree that sound of music is much better in technicolor than it would 've been in b&w.
note: that beautiful film you are speaking of, about a drug user's downward spiral, in full color, guess what artsy fartsy colors his feaure film before that had....

for the look of the film, i would have the colors all be de-saturated. i dont know about anybody else, but i think that adds to the mood of the film by being somewhat depressing.
