Best comentary

What movie do you think has the best Audio Comentary.

I'm going to go with The last Samauri, because Zwick actualy tells us what was going through his mind and why he did some shots, and such, and how it was done, I actualy learned a lot.

Naw not The Last Samurai although a great commentary. The best commentary would have to be one of the 4 commentary tracks on the Black Hawk Down 3 disc Sp. Edition.

My personal favorites are the ones for the "Evil Dead" and "El Mariachi" trilogy.

I haven't lissoned to the ones on any Rodregeze movie that I can get and they are rather good, well From Dusk till dawn falls into just two guys chit chating, but thats not RR's falt. and there is suplimetal stuff that off sets it.

Das Boot had a rather good commentary especially considering they had nearly 3 and a half hours to fill. The commentary on Total Recall with Schwarzenegger and Verhoeven is hilarious (Arnold: *laughs* I used him as a human shield then I threw him down the stairs! Verhoeven: Yes, it's funny because he uses him as a human shield! Arnold: Well, what else are you going to do under the circumstances?) Coppola has some very informative commentary for The Godfather.

Yeah, El Mariachi has a great commentary. I also heard cabin fever had a good one, where eli roth basically talks about filmmaking the entire time, but I have yet to check it out. I have not really listened to that many, even though I have lots with commentary

Check out the Micheal Bay commentaries on his films, they are some of the most entertaining I've heard ;espeically the ones to the first Bad Boys "We couldn't afford to rent rent a car for this scene, so we just used mine" and The Rock "This car chase in San Farsisco was one of the biggest tractor f*cks I've never had to work on."
My films;

The best commentary ever is the Alan Partridge/Lynn in-character commentaries on the I'M ALAN PARTRIDGE SERIES 1 disc. The others, in no order, are:

Mallrats
From Dusk till Dawn
Donnie Darko Director's Cut
Fight Club
Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
Ever Listen To K-Billy's Super Sounds of the Seventies?

Even though it's not a serious technical commentary and you don't learn much, the Cannibal! the Musical commentary by Trey Parker, Matt Stone an friends is hilarious! All they do is get drunk whilst discussing the film. Sheer genius...
Ooh, french maid. Didn't expect me home from the whipped cream store so soon did you? And who's your lady friend?

I liked how in te commentary in The Mummy Returns points out all the mistakes the film makers made.
P.S. Is film makers supposed to be one word?

It's kind of weird to point out the mistakes of a movie they made... The LOTR trilogy had good commentaries.

Couldn't agree mnore with that list...

I don't think it is weird that film-makers point out their mistakes. Why wouldn't they?

Yeah, you'd think they'd build up their movies, not point out their mistakes in public........(on the DVD)

Exactly.
It's kind of old, but the Spaceballs commentary by Mel Brooks was excellent.

The Donnie Darko commentary. They talk about the special effects, and how they were accomplished, as well as all the rigs and behind-the-scenes stuff.

This may sound...odd...but the Godzilla (1998) commentary, which featured the Special Effects department, was pretty good, although the movie was not. They describe which shots are composites, CG etc.
