[Final Cut Pro]

Does anyone have any FCP tutorials, just the basics and stuff? I got a copy of FCP from my friend and want to learn how to use it. Thanks.

FCP 4. It looks intimidating with all of the windows but I know about those already. I want to do things that are cool but also useful. Things that I can't do in AE or iMovie. But the first thing is How to import from a camera. I tried but it just sat there saying "Waiting for timecode from camera." After that I can explore some on my own.

Panasonic PV-GS70. Maybe I didn't have the DV Out enabled? I'll try again, I was in a hurry to finish a project and I didn't want to troubleshoot.

Yeah. I know how to move clips and set in and out points. I can't figure out how to use the effects and transitions though. And is there a way to ramp the time up or down?

Do you mean speed up the clips? To add transitions just drag them into the video track which joins the two clips.

Maybe I'm being ignorant, but do you have to render the transitions to watch them? I thought that it was real-time preview. All I get is "Unrendered" on the screen. How do I get a realtime preview? http://edinc90.0catch.com/pics/picture1.html what I have so far for the speed change. I can't seem to get it to do anything.

yeah ur being ignorant... Every program requires rendering before you can view them, it doesn't stop it from being real time.

i think there is an easier way to do it, but i can't remember, (i don't have final cut pro at home). hmmm. what process have u gone through?

I make my transition and then I go to the Sequence menu, Render sub-menu, and Both. Is there a faster way to do it? Also I can't seem to change the length of the transitions by dragging them. I used to move over the end of the transition and drag and it would change the time, but now nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

ok, i finally got fcp 4, to speed up the picture, press ctrl and click on the video you wish to speed up, then select speed.choose the percentage speed. eg 200% twice as fast etc.

I don't know any faster ways of rendering, but that way doesn't take long anyway. but you can press, apple + r to render the selection or, option + r to render all.
