Post by Chris_film »

i had my old camera brake down last week and am thinking about getting a new one. Problem is i have almost no money for one of those high end cameras, and probably wont for a while. are there any really cheap yet good quality dv cams out there?

I would recommend a Canon ZR60, I got mine for $315 off the net last christmas so the price prolly dropped since then! If you want to see what an awesome job it is, download one of the Trail of Blood Trailers from my website. http://brokenstickproductions.com

Yeah, I have the ZR60 too. GREAT cam for the money! The picture quality is great, and almost the best you can get without going to 3ccd. It does true animorphic widescreen too. Just a word of advice though, the ZR 60 needs plenty of light in dark situations, otherwise it gets grainy.

Ok...first of all, e-bay is not the greatest thing in the world. I got mine off some cheap site. I think if you go to www.pricewatch.com they have a link to the site I got my cam off, all you have to do is do a google search.

And as for the ZR60 lighting, YES! You need to have lots of light or it gets grainy, which is why I film in "spotlight" mode. It takes the grains out, but to see your character you need lots of light!
