Looking for head

Post by KayBeck »

There's a scene in my film where a head gets chopped off and carried away.

I'm currently on the lookout for a styrofoam or maniquin head, but so far no luck.

Does anyone here know how to make a decent head?

Once again, thanks in advance.

Perhaps if you checked out a Wig shop, or went to a large clothing store, and found a manager of the store.

Hmm i have an old barber shop one at the moment to work with. Depends how real and what angle you are going to shoot at i guess. Maybe simple paper mache and a wig will do?

You could make the head out of plaster of paris, that might work.

It's an Android head, so there's going to be a mask that covers the face area, and everything else is going to be painted silver.

well you could run into a mall or clothing store, find a maniquin, chop of its head and run. to make it look extra intersting you could splatter some fake blood around the maniquin. but other than that you should find a small store that has heads like that (like a barber shop) and ask for a head that they dont need anymore, or ask where they get them maybe

if its an android it shouldnt be too much trouble, just find something remotely close to the shape of a head and color it silver, then add your mask.

i agree with gyro-with a mask, you wont see detail, so just do papier mache or something

If it's an android head, why not use an old motorcycle helmet? Or one of those play helmets they sell in toy stores?

I agree, the best item for what you need would be a simple foam head which you can get at any beauty or wig shop, also do a search online for styro. head, they are cheap and can be used for planning basic effects, especially for women's faces.

Craft shops usually have them. In the UK theres like a craft megastore called Hobbycraft and they do styro and wood ones.
