16:9 on to DVD...Will it letterbox to fit 4:3??

Post by reflexive_cinematics »

If i finish a movie and export it and burn it to a DVD in 16:9 format, and when i got to play that in a 4:3 TV will it letterbox it, or will it strech and crop it to fit it full screen? I want it to play fullscreen in a 16:9 TV but letter box on a 4:3 TV... Will I have to do anything special to achive this?

You can do things before authoring the disc, but really, it's just your DVD player. If the TV is 4:3, then set up the DVD player to recognize it as such. There should be an option for "4:3 Letterbox" or "4:3 Pan & Scan." Just search around the setup menu on the DVD player. For a 16:9 TV, just set up the DVD player to recognize that the TV is 16:9 so the film can be played in its full glory.
Erm... yeah...
