Pixelated DVD?

Well, I just bought my new HP burner good and all. So i burnt my first DVD, I have been working on a skateboard video for over a year now and wanted to test it out. So I burnt on my footage, I exported it from Premiere in the typical Microsoft DV format because I am using a Sony Digital 8. Well I exported all the video sections to Microsoft DV AVI format. I went throught the program and made the whole menu, etc. I was glad and happen then boom as I watched it go down the drain the video on my TV was pixelated. Has this happened to anybody or should I export my timeline to MPEG2 immiedietly? Can you help me?
