I am looking to buy a new DV cam, I like panasonic and have £500 absolute max to spend.
I quite like the NVDS65B from:

I know I need DV in/out, but what else do I need, does anyone own a Pana DV Cam?
Thanks
Martin

ME!
I've got a GS5.
The features I wanted were
DV in/out
Mic input
Headphone socket
Manual focus/white balance etc
Tripod mount
Optional features I liked the sound of :
Analogue In
So far I've been very pleased with it. Originally I was going to go for a JVC camera but heard they can suffer from motor noise.
The DS65B looks very similar to the GS5 and the spec is extremely similar. Have a search on Google Groups and make sure it has no serious bugs. I'm sure though that this camera would be fine for that price.
You may wish to have a search on Kelkoo to compare prices with other shops.

Does the GS5 have frame mode? Most Panasonics do and I can't get enough of it!
I'm off to buy a camcorder when I've finished online. Getting a JVC though 'cus I've had better colour experiences with them. No frame mode though

Matt, shoot on progressive scan!!!
It gives the footage a film-like look & also saves time de-interlacing when rendering. When i see my JVC DVL-355 footage that hasn't got progressive i cry It looks like footage off You've been framed, and that's not a good thing folks!!!

Progressive Scan/Frame Mode?
Is the Progressive Scan and Frame mode the same thing?
I have not been able to find this feature on any of the panasonic, but have found Progressive Photoshoot, is this the same thing???

Progressive Scan/Frame mode is the same thing, and USE IT MATT! Especially on your next film. It just adds a hint of extra professionalism to your films (although it's probably not wise to use it on holiday footage and what not).
Progressive Photoshoot isn't the same thing, well it kinda is but with a terrible frame rate. Only use this if you're planning to only use the footage to extract stills from it.
I got a JVC GR-D31EK and it's great! It's about the size of my hand and does everything our previous JVC camera did plus more (although the size means there's no built in light )

AGEZ50
I have a pair of them, I like them ok features I want but dont have are native 16x9 and more than 500 lines (I know most all of you guys are PAL users anyway, lay off the NTSC dopes like me ) but they are fairly good. Im not sure what an equal would be in the UK
