I have a load of BBC Sound Effect CD's... Perfect for those "UFO crashes in to church spire" moments in your film, not forgetting the "Cat with hiccups" character you're bound to have in your film.

(Actual names of certain sound effects on the CD's!)

normally good effects on games - slashing + knife effects are good on counter strike - half life. I got a cd with 6000 effects on, thats good enough for me though

Okay, I have a question to ask here!

Is the person who is being stabbed already dead?

I ask this becaause surely when you stab someone, wouldn't they yell out "Oi you geezer, that wasn't a very nice thing to do now was it!"???

Therefore, you wouldn't hear the stabbing, just the screaming!

Now if you're stabbing someone who has passed out already at the thought of it (Feeling woozy here myself just thinking about it), I guess you'd be able to get the sound by stabbing the Sunday roast before it goes in the oven! That'll be a real flesh getting stabbed sound!

What are you lot like with your discreet sounds! Honestly! LOL!

Well the person we are stabing or in this case cutting, is unconchus so we would hear the sound. But good point.

Well, you could try something similar to what was mentioned in a previous post except that I would suggest a watermelon or something like that as opposed to the Sunday roast. I know from personal experience that it makes a nice chunky "thud" like striking a bone with a knife, but it also gives a dull sounding rasp like the cutting of flesh. The only real caveat to this is that you have to have some upper body strength to make a really good audio sample that can be picked up by a nearby mic.

By the way Swampy, Love that Avatar animation. Boogerman rules!

ah Cam, but this are movies, and movies are always exagerated.

I mean, you always listen WOOSH's and BANGS, and OMMMPs that you would listen in real life.

the number 1 example: punches. sin when did hitting flesh with your hands sounds like hitting wood?

Sound effects are used to tell you things that you can't quite see, and they most of the time are more provoitive then the site of violance. The gergling from getting your neck slashed is worse in my opinon that seeing all the blood.

and if you got a game like counter strike or somethin' like that installed on your computer, you can pick some there...
