Any out there know a good freebie sound recorder that will let me record straight from the line-in of my sound card?

Can't you just use windows Sound Recorder?

The Creative Wav studio is available for free from their website I think. That is fairly good for basic wav recording/editing.

I've found that Goldwave is a very good recorder and stereo editor. You can find it at http://www.goldwave.com . The latest version is 4.26, It will also rip sound directly from CD's which is useful.
