STAR WARS: TYDIRIUM

One of the best no budget fan films I have EVER seen. I cannot wait for this to come out!

Some good films people have mentioned... Obviously Evil Dead should be watched by every low budget film maker! 28 Days Later for giving hope to people who shoot on DV. I think even Blair Witch for showing you how a piece of cr** can make you a multimillionaire.

But go with all of the above :D There's some good suggestions people have made

Well Clerks shows that you can make a cult hit with a black and white cam, a few thousand dollors, and liberal use of the f word, Bad taste shows that even if you just make strange movies you can still go on to make huge flicks, Reservoir Dogs shows that if you have an ear for strange conversations that you can make a great flick. It seems that the key is a well writen or grotuitsly violent first film.

Epsilon; that Star Wars fan film looks freaking sweet!!

There isn't many low-budget films that have inspired me. I'm usally inspired by the BIG multimillion dollar films that the studios put out.
What I find to be inspireing is TV commercials, since (a) they never have big budgets. (b) lots of hollywood directors got there start by making commericals. (c) some of them are actully pretty cool. Like the very first commercial for the Hummer H2, I actully injoyed watching that commercial every time I saw it.

Did you know that Micheal Bay was the one who came up with the "Got Milk?" campaign?

Anyway; that's what I find inspiring. Well made TV commercials.
My films;

El Mariachi was made on a low budget also... The precursor to two more in the series...

Was 28 days later actually camcorder quality, or broadcast quality that was just shot on DV? I haven't seen it yet...

It was shot on a pimped-out XL1s. The whole film looks amazing, except for a scene in a forest, in which the picture is heavily pixellated.

I'd love to see someone shoot a movie on an off-the shelf at the electronics store camcorder and try to turn it into a feature film.

Canon XL1s, as mentioned before. Expensive but you can find them in most camera shops.

UHF. Seems pretty low budget to me, yet they can still show a kid drinking from a fire hose.
