Samsung VP-D190i - is it worthless?

Post by master bud »

Hi,

a friend of mine is willing to lend me a Samsung VP-D190i dv camcorder for unlimited use. I'm a beginner in videomaking and I don't know much about cameras. Is it okay for making something reasonable or it is just for nothing (wedding etc.)?

Any suggestion would be appreciated,

Looks like just your standard DV camcorder. To get professional, yopu really need one with a 3CCD lens rather than a standard 1.

But since it's free, what the hell right? I would use it since I won't cost anything, it won't produce the best stuff, but for a person just starting out it looks fine.

Thank u for the reply. Unfortunately a 3 ccd one is out of my reach right now.

Is there any way to improve the quality of a footage shot with one ccd (software etc.)?

Cheers,

Other than color saturation, and losing some digital relics in extremely low light situations, the diff between a 3-CCD and a good single ccd are not all that great. The single, if shot right, will give almost imperceptible differences in most cases. The three CCD will make it easier to produce quality video, but if the cam has good manual controls, and a reasonably bright lens, then with a little extra effort the single CCD cam can produce results which will rival low end CCD cams. Probably more inmportant than 3 CCD when you get into the higher end cams is the quality of the lens, not the number of CCDs.
