Weapons
This is my first post here, and thought i'd give some good advice, Arisoft weapons look really good, and are possibly the best film props, but one word of warning, they do shoot projectiles and they do hurt! If you are using airsoft weapopns make sure they are not loaded, or better still take the battery out or the spirng before using them. Rember your actors/stunt mans safty first!

Yes safety is a big issue expecially with projectile firing devices, and as i always say.......test and rehearse the effect first with the actor(s) if possible to give them confidence and reassurence

During the filming of GUTS Oliver got shot in the ear with an airsoft H&K MP5. The pellet got lodged in his ear and he had to go to hospital to have it removed. All the other patients were kids with saucepans stuck on their head and rubbers stuck up there noses.
Obviously we finished filming before taking him to Medway Accident and Emergency.

Just unload the airsoft guns before you take them out, and then when your using them don't Slide the breach back,(the auto cener won't let me say, peni5 the guns). The spring ones don't hurt more then they sting like nothing ealse. But they can hurt and leave really bad welts if you get hit on exposed skin, I got shoot at the wastline with a spring Airsoft gun, and it left a welt, and hurt like hell for a few days. That and the guy who shot me got hit in the face, that left a nice welt for his date. So in conclution just unload the guns, and don't slide the breach back on them before you use them.

I've fired pellets that have ricocheted off wood and came straight back at me. Whooshed by my head, one hit me in the chest, one slammed into a window. Now I wear goggles!

Make sure you have responsable friends! But it's not the best to lose it all, just dismiss him from the film.

well, its dumb not to follow the airsoft code whenever your using airsoft weapons on films:
before shooting:
-take out the magazine
-empty the magazine
-load the gun (or as matthawkins call it, peni5 it)
-fire it until you are absolutely sure its empty
-reload the mag
-fire it until you are absolutely sure its empty
-keep it in a secure place where nobody will reload it and fire off a few
