I have an NVidia GeForce 4 video card, and up until now I have used the Dazzle DVC 80 wire, which converts analog to digital information for the computer. The camrera I use has tapes, but I also think is digital... It takes those little blue cards also. Do I need a capture card if I were to switch to using a standars IEEE 9- whatever firewire? Also, what does the firewire port look like?
well firewire has two shapes. the most common is kind of like a rectangle except one end is rounded. the less common and used more on laptops is like a square and one of the sides has a v the indents.
If you can hook it up using the firewore socket, then you don't need to bother with a video capture card, apparently, the digital result is better, however the capture card is the only route to go for digitally editing analogue tapes.
No, if you have digital, see if you comp has firewire if not get a card. If you have aniloge your going to need a capture card, they are diffrent things, one will look more like a VCR if I'm not mistaken, well pulg wise, it won't have a tape slot.
