new camera

Does anyone know which camera is better? The sony dcr-vx2000 or the XL1s?
The sony is about 2000 cheaper than the Canon which stands at around 5000, but I know that people have liked sony over canon, but I dont know which one is better for the price. I want to know this because I want to ask for it for christmas. Haha phat chance of me getting one sense I just got a descent camera last year, but I'm interested in what you think.

canon xl-1s is probably just a little better but the vx 2000 is a better deal. overall they are very close. both have 3 ccd which is a BIG plus. i kinda like the shape of the xl-1s better. plus the xl-1s has the capability of switching lenses (like 35 mm lenses) which is nice but lenses are quite expensive.

they sell the Sony at 2999 and the XL1 for just 300 more, at 3299
