Because I'm a professional graphics designer, and I apply my talents into my distribution business.epsonink wrote:why so many printers?
The dry-transfer printer prints white, that very few other printers do - Needed for printing onto metallic silver film for showing metallic and not-metallic transitions on foil balloon artwork concepts. I don't use it's sdye-sublimation, you need special paper for this to work, and the colour laser gives a good enough output on regular paper.
Old colour laser printer is way past it's life expectancy duty cycle (It's done 18 years worth of printing in 6 years!). It's still used for printing the balloon packaging (Sleeves) you see in card shops. It's cheap to run, the consumables aren't replaced, apart from the toner, and the print quality is adequate for what it's used for. It's capacity is only 400 pages.
The newer colour laser printer is used for quality presentation work, and also acts as the work-horse for invoicing, statement runs, and reports. It's a true network printer, and can duplex! I love it! It has a capacity for 850 sheets of copier paper!
The CD printer is for printing professional looking CDs that get sent out to the platemakers in Belgium for balloons to be produced.
I don't use the desk-jet printers much anymore. One of them is set up to do only labels for stock control.
The portable printer I used to use when I travelled a lot, so it's in reserve should I have to travel anywhere again.
The banner printer is for banners that I still print from time to time. I can print a 15M banner, 420mm deep, in full colour, 1440dpi resolution!, which brings me to mention a few other things in my arsenal:
A3 laminator - No big deal, but I also have:
A1 Roll Laminator - which can laminate up to 250ft in 1 go! It's the GBC Ultima 65! People show me their new desktop laminators, and I have to laugh! "Oh that's really big" I say grinning!
I also have an A2 ream cutter - cuts through 500 sheets of paper - used mainly for trimming the "sleeves" that we package the balloons in.
Few other bits and pieces dotted about the place.
I should mention that all the equipment I own has been bought because it was needed badly, and the job couldn't have been done without that piece of equipment! Everything is justified, and has definetly had more than it's fair share of use!
Moderating behind the bushes!
